Pilgrimage place Maria Hilf
South of the Zlaté Hory, there is an important pilgrimage site dedicated to Maria Hilf, protector of the unborn. It bears the name Maria Hilf and is surrounded by the surrounding forests, which give the place a unique atmosphere. Before World War II, up to a hundred thousand pilgrims came here annually, but during the communist regime, the place fell into disrepair.
In 1973, the original church was blown up and bulldozed to the ground. A new church was then built in its place, which was consecrated in 1995. In the following years, a pilgrimage house, ambits, outdoor sacrificial table and bells were gradually built and consecrated. At the same time, pilgrimages and religious services were renewed.
You can get to Maria Hilf either on foot along the marked hiking trails, or along the narrow road that branches off from the main road from Zlaté Hory to Heřmanovice (you can park right in front of the complex).
