Zlatokopecky Open Air Museum
The Zlatokopecky Open Air Museum is located in the immediate vicinity of Zlaté Hory. There is a car park right in front of it and after buying a ticket you can enjoy two guided tours or walk on your own.
The first part of the open-air museum consists of a replica of water-powered medieval mining mills, which are made according to period drawings. The mills are built on a nature trail that also takes you to the place where “the water flows uphill”. What does this mean? Go see this optical illusion for yourself.
In the second part of the open-air museum, you can look forward to a replica of a wooden mining cabin, which consists of an outdoor and an indoor living area. You can also see the belfry, and on the access road there is a wooden replica of the watchtower, which serves as a lookout point. Adjacent to the mining settlement is a racetrack with bogies, which is used in the annual gold panning competitions. And you can also see a working replica of the melting furnace.
